Trimble Access Software v. 2022.00 - Improving Everyday Survey Workflows

Designed to support the way surveyors work.

Trimble® Access™ version 2022.00, supports Trimble’s commitment to continually improve the leading field software used by professional surveyors around the world. With features that deliver enhanced productivity for a wider range of survey applications, including topographic survey, feature attribution, stakeout, and control, Trimble Access v2022.00 supports everyday survey workflows with greater flexibility and efficiency.

New features and functionality that support field to finish workflows include:

Trimble Access General Survey software

  • Horizontal tilt offset: Measure out-of-reach locations, such as the center of a tree or pole, using the horizontal tilt offset method with an IMU enabled GNSS receiver.
  • Sync scheduler: Schedule your project to automatically upload to the cloud at specified intervals (e.g., every 15 minutes or when you end your survey).
  • Web Feature Services (WFS): Save WFS data to your controller to use offline as a background map or select features from the WFS map data for navigation or stakeout.
  • Georeference Map files in the field: Use the georeference map function to translate and rotate DXF and IFC files to be in terms of your job data.
  • IFC 4.1 alignment: Stake alignments directly from IFC 4.1 files—users can visualize a 3D structure, such as a pipe network, as well as stake an alignment created on the pipe invert.
  • Receiver Wi-Fi connections: Use Trimble Access to set up and use an internet base station with your receiver connected to an external Wi-Fi network.

Improved interface: LandXML and RXL Road stakeout now integrates map and form workflows, enabling quick and simple configuration. Easily switch between stakeout methods, define construction offsets, cross slopes, or subgrades. View any updates graphically and in real-time in both the plan or cross-section view.

Horizontal tilt offset for hard to reach measurements


Reach those hard-to-get measurements without additional equipment. When using a GNSS receiver that has IMU tilt compensation enabled and a properly aligned IMU, you can use the horizontal tilt offset method to measure locations that cannot be occupied by the tip of the pole, for example when measuring the center of a tree or pole.

The horizontal tilt offset method uses IMU tilt compensation to calculate the azimuth of the tilted pole between the Antenna Phase Center (APC) of the GNSS receiver and the pole tip, and then projects the azimuth from the tip at the specified offset distance to compute the offset point.

When measuring, tilt the pole more than 15° and then sight down the pole so that the center of the receiver, the pole, the pole tip, and the offset point being measured (such as the center of the tree) are in a straight line (on the same azimuth). The azimuth at the time of point storage is the azimuth used for the offset.

Sync Scheduler automates synchronization


With improved connectivity, sync data according to your schedule. You work smarter by using the Sync Scheduler screen to automate synchronization to the cloud for the current project.

The settings in the Sync Scheduler screen are saved to the controller and applied to your current project. This means you can configure these settings once and they will be applied to all projects you work on.

Choose whether to upload data at regular time intervals or after specific events, e.g., when closing a job or when signing in. You choose whether to allow automated upload when connected to any network or only when connected to specific networks.

Web Feature Services (WFS)


Request geographical features as georeferenced vector data over the Internet using Web Feature Services (WFS), and then save the data to the controller to use in the field without an internet connection.

Once you have saved the WFS data, you can select lines or polylines from the WFS file in the map and stake them. You can also create points at the ends of lines and at all points along a polyline by selecting the Create nodes (DXF, Shape & LandXML) check box in the Map settings screen. The created points can then be selected for stakeout or Cogo calculations.

Georeference Map Files in the field


Do you sometimes receive a DXF or IFC file with a false origin that needs georeferencing in the field? The georeference map function can be used to translate, rotate and scale these files to be in terms of your job data.

Georeferencing is often completed in the office before a surveyor heads to the field; however, situations may arise where you need to locate the boundaries first. Pick two points in the map file and find their corresponding points in your job data. Fix the scale to one or scale the map selection to match the job selection. Georeferencing files in the field can save a trip back to the office.

IFC 4.1 Alignment Support


Trimble Access General Survey and Roads now support the IfcAlignment element introduced in the Industry Standard IFC 4.1 schema. You can now stake out an alignment from an IFC file in the same way that you stake a single alignment from an DXF, RXL, or LandXML file.

Receiver Wi-Fi connections


Trimble Access 2022.00 supports the set up and use of a receiver Wi-Fi connection in both rover and base surveys. Previously only configurable using the receiver's WebUI, this upgrade allows for easier configuration of internet base station surveys when using an external device for internet connectivity, such as a cell phone or MiFi device.

Trimble Access Roads


LandXML and RXL Road stakeout now integrates the best of the map and menu workflows, enabling quick and simple configuration. Easily switch between stakeout methods; define construction offsets, cross slopes, or subgrades; and view graphical real-time updates, regardless of whether you start stakeout from the form or the map.

The Options softkey enables you to access the construction offset options all from one screen. In addition, you can now apply a station construction offset when staking an RXL road. Previously you could apply a station construction only to LandXML, 12da, or GENIO roads.
