What's New with Trimble Access Monitoring v1.1.3

Trimble Access Monitoring Field software provides efficient data collection and monitoring site setup for campaign-based and periodic monitoring projects. Starting with site preparation to define control points, backsights, and monitoring target information sets the project up for success. Once the network has been prepared. Trimble Access Monitoring automatically collects measurements and provides infield reporting and alarms notifying the user of significant movements. Once the data has been collected, generate infield reports documenting trends, displacements, and other onsite movements. From here, share reports from the field and integrate field data with Trimble Business Center for comprehensive analysis and visualization of monitoring points.

What’s New in Trimble Access Monitoring

Trimble Access Monitoring v1.1.3 provides enhanced flexibility for monitoring site setup and infield data collection including:

  • Ability to automatically repeat missed/obstructed monitoring targets reducing the need for manual measurements
  • Ability to edit monitoring targets during monitoring round to edit errors in real-time
  • Turn to previously measured position during subsequent monitoring rounds instead of reference position to reduce total station target search time
  • Export coordinate CSV for each epoch enabling analysis in other software packages
  • Sync reports and exports to Trimble Connect Project for great sharing capabilities
  • New Configuration Page with additional flexibility for exporting a site setup to the Settop M1 for automated monitoring

Site Setup and Monitoring Target Preparation

The first step to monitoring is setting up your control network and monitoring targets. Trimble Access Monitoring provides a variety of options for defining your control measurements such as re-section, backsight, or multiple backsights. For monitoring targets, standard information such as prism type, constant, and height is available but additionally, the total station measurement mode can be specified.

In version 1.1.3, the monitoring point list can now be sorted automatically based on azimuth relative to your backsight orientation. This reduces the time it takes to measure multiple targets in various directions by limiting the size of rotation the instrument turns in each measurement.

Automated Measurements and Data Collection

Collecting data for monitoring projects involves repetitive measurements of the same points. These repeated measurements, when performed manually, can increase operator errors and time on-site collecting data. Trimble Access Monitoring automates these measurements, drastically reducing time on site.

In version 1.1.3, an option to repeat missed or obstructed targets has been added. This ensures that all monitoring targets are measured even when temporarily obstructed. For example, during a monitoring round of 20 targets, prisms 14 and 15 are obstructed by a parked vehicle. The total station will continue on to targets 16, 17, etc. until reaching the end of the round. At the end of the round the instrument will automatically attempt to re-measure missed points 14 and 15. This prevents the need for manually measuring missed targets and ensures all data has been collected.

Another great new feature when performing monitoring is the ability to edit Monitoring Target information during the round measurement. This allows changing key target information such as prism type, constant, height, and measurement mode to correct previous mistakes or on-the-fly changes.

Infield Alarming and Reporting

After data has been collected, Trimble Access Monitoring generates reports to detail movement trends and magnitude providing greater insight to decision makers.

Trimble Access Monitoring v1.1.3 introduces a new CSV export including coordinates of all measured and reference epoch data. This allows monitoring services providers to utilize measured data in a variety of reporting packages and spreadsheets.

Additionally, all exports and reports created in Trimble Access Monitoring are now synced to your Trimble Connect Project allowing them to be shared with other stakeholders and project owners simply.

If utilizing Trimble Access Monitoring to set up an automated monitoring system, the new Configuration page provides flexibility on scheduling before sending to the Settop M1 to start automation.
